About

English-first help for travelling China

Planning a China trip from outside the country is unusually hard: the information is scattered, often out of date, increasingly machine-written, and much of it exists to sell you a tour. This is the opposite — a small, plainly written reference, kept current and dated, made by people who are Chinese, travel constantly, and got tired of answering the same questions one friend at a time.

What this is

City-pair routes settled in one page — train or plane, and why. City guides that lead with the friction, not a checklist. A short set of guides for what you sort before you fly — visa, payments, getting online, the apps. A few tools. Every page carries the month it was last checked.

It is not a blog, and not a place to book. Where a “book” link earns a commission that is said plainly on the disclosure page; which route is better, and every verdict here, is never for sale.

Money

How this is funded

Some outbound “book” links are affiliate links: if you book through one, the site may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. That's the only way it makes money — no ads, nothing else sponsored. The full version, and what is not for sale, is on the disclosure page.

Standards

How the facts are checked

Prices, times and rules are checked against official or primary sources and dated. Fast-moving rules — visa policy above all — are tracked, and any change is re-verified at the source before a page is updated. The method & honesty page has the detail.
